(This lyric, as sung by Gainsbourg/Birkin, was put here for me to keep up an association.)

oh, well.

my beloved, and i, and a guy we both know, had just been at the cinema and watched "Water" (see below).
and we needed something to take us back - from 1930 India to 2007 Vienna.
so we went to this little strange shabby smoky dusty café, and drank beer. nothing could be more viennese.

oh joy! the café had a big shiny colourful old-fashioned jukebox full of trashy kitschy music.
her blue eyes shone. she became like a little girl who has just got an absolutely wonderful new toy, and wanted to try out the jukebox.
we scraped together the right kind of small change to feed the box, and very carefully selected just one song. she slowly but surely zoomed in on "je t'aime moi non plus".

we danced to it in an appropriate way. there was no space at all for dancing, but we still did.

Sounds like a wonderful evening. Did you take pictures?

of course not. one does not take photos in ecstatic moments.

and thank all the gods, our friend didn't have his camera on him. he would have been perfectly capable of taking pics and posting them somewhere on the web.

and that might have been bloody embarrassing.
