on the whole, magicians and muggles seem to live in separate worlds... being a very good or even a great magician will hardly ever make someone as famous as being an actor or something.
but i suppose the dutch were rather proud of fred kaps at his time. trouble was, when he got to be so famous he simply worked too much and exhausted himself.
Awww poor Fred. He seems very good with the card. Now the Dutch are proud of Hans Klok. I don't like him with his long blonde hair. He has a show in Vegas now with Pamela Anderson as his assistant. Yuck!
for one thing, it's all machinery and very little true skill. and then he doesn't even take the trouble to make sure one can't see how the tricks work.
watch kaps' price-winning act, without cards this time. i've been trying to copy some of his moves with coins, and they are damn hard to do. and he's the only one i ever saw doing a trick with smoke alone, and no cigarettes!
