introducing: our national animal

been to carustan yet? if you have, you know that our national animal is the platypus, which frolics freely in the country's lush forests, enjoying its privileges as a protected species.
you may ask, why the platypus? because they are CUTE! i've always loved them... played with little platypuses (the kind that's made of plush) when i was 4 or 5 years old, and never stopped loving them.

and by the way, you might just drop in at nationstates and create your own nation too, plus animal.

and no, i'm living in austria, not australia :-P

platypus, the national symbol of austria? that is cute! i have never seen the animals live, but they look adorable! in dutch a platypus is called 'vogelbekdier', which means 'birdmouthanimal' ..strange name..

no, no, it's the national symbol of Carustan - my very own nation, see the link.

in german they are called Schnabeltier (beak animal). i believe they are sometimes called duckbill in english... rather nice, while 'platypus' is zoologists' pseudo-greek and means 'flatfoot' or 'broadfoot' - sounds like hobbit family names ;-)

You know what my national animal is now?
"Jump-land's national animal is the Imaginary Friends, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Eatables"
hehehe!
