What Political Party Do Your Beliefs Put You In? created with QuizFarm.com |
hmmmmmmmm... how on earth did they come to think i'm one third of a fascist? but the rest is ok.
queen of the wasps
every year in spring, young wasp queens roam the country, trying to find a nice place for building a nest. and damn them, some of them always seem to think a very good place for the purpose would be inside my window.
not being violent, i don't want to kill them. and not being crazy, i won't have a wasps' nest inside my living room. and they are very stubborn - hell of a job getting them out once they have come in.
just drove away this year's first queen. now spring has definitely come.

Vinger i natten / Schwingen im Dunkel
Det flyger en fågel svart och stum.
Vem binder hans öde? Ingen.
Han flyger i världens vida rum
med ångestens vind i vingen.
Har ej rede a värmer sig i.
Har ej värn eller villoställen.
Min längtarn suser skugglikt forbi
din brinnande ruta i kvällen.
Sa blek i månskenens bleka ljus
du stryker en dröm fran din panna.
Nu sover ditt stora tysta hus.
Mitt öde kan icke stanna.
Det är skyar som fara och flarn
på flykt över dunkla vatten -
vi längtans fåglar, vi orons barn,
vi susande vinger i natten!
(Bo Bergman)
Es fliegt ein Vogel so schwarz und stumm;
sein Schicksal, wer hemmt es? Kein Zügel.
Im weiten Weltraum treibt er sich um,
den Sturmwind der Angst unterm Flügel.
Er hat kein Nest, sich zu wärmen drin;
kein Rastplatz, bergend und labend.
Mein Sehnen braust wie ein Schatten dahin
vor dein helles Fenster heut abend.
So bleich siehst im bleichen Mondlicht du aus,
willst den Traum von der Stirne reiben;
The religion that has the greatest affinity with your belief system is:
Your belief system is 90% compatible with Unitarian Universalist religious beliefs.
But did you know that even though Unitarian Universalists have mixed beliefs about the existence of God, they tend to share the belief that there is something to be learned from every world religion? It appears that you are also open to a wide variety of religious and spiritual ideas. By accepting differences between individual spiritual beliefs, Unitarian Universalists come together under a few broad and inclusive moral ideologies. They pass their beliefs from generation to generation through their church's literature and their teachings, both of which draw on many of the major spiritual texts from a variety of religions. Typically open-minded and intellectual, Unitarian Universalists encourage individual exploration of many different spiritual truths. They also tend to be politically liberal. It seems that you also see the importance of being open-minded and curious.
You're 67% compatible with Buddhist beliefs.
You're 63% compatible with Neo-Pagan beliefs.
You're 50% compatible with Baha'i beliefs.
You're 50% compatible with Native American religious beliefs.
You're 47% compatible with Spiritualist beliefs.

You're 35% compatible with Christian beliefs.
[this may be a rather ingenious test, but it's all wrong. i'm sure i'm a lot more Hindu than Baha'i or, so help me god, Spiritualist (i happen to think spiritualism is all bunkum!); and i'm much more of a Jew than a Native American; and i'm exactly 0,0023% Christian. but still fun.]

letter to the weather-gods
dear Jupiter aka Zeus, dear Thor, dear Indra, dear St. Peter, and all you other guys,
i've had enough of the winter, and so, it seems, have you. but i have also had enough of this changing back and forth between hot and cold.
i wish to tell you that this weekend i'm stowing away my shoes and will only take them out again in autumn. until then i'm going barefoot, and should you go changing back to 2°C and snowfall, why then i will walk barefoot in the snow. i won't be kidded by the likes of you.
yours sincerely,
caru

more avatars...
... this time of three girls who make my life a lot more like paradise than it would be without them.
from left to right, and top to bottom: s., i., and m. :-)
i(ris, with the sunset background) composed her avatar herself, the others were put together by me. none of them really does justice to the girl it supposedly depicts - they are all a lot prettier, for example - but they do give an idea of their general appearance.

medieval handicraft
stumbled on this little shop yesterday. they make, and sell, medieval (and pre-medieval) clothing, shoes, ornaments, toys... and they offer workshops where you can learn some of the techniques - weaving, pottery, leatherwork...
most of the stuff is pretty expensive, though. has to be. but they also sell sewing patterns for medieval clothing, and little booklets that teach you how to make stuff yourself :-) great discovery :-)
